Who We Are
Our practice was founded in 2014 by Clinical Director Sarah Gugluizza as an individual private practice where she primarily serviced children, teens and their families in Southern Brooklyn. Sarah worked a full time job as an early childhood social worker, running her practice on a part-time basis. After the birth of her second child, and with a move to the Hudson Valley, Sarah left her job and leaped into running her practice full time.
She had always imagined being able to run her own group practice one day, where her and the therapists that worked alongside her could support their immediate community and one another. This became a reality during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic when more help then she could provide was needed. In October 2019, Sarah welcomed several therapists onboard, and Rising Lotus Counseling was born.

Rising Lotus Counseling has been providing patients in the Hudson Valley with a wide range of mental health and wellness services. Our therapists engage clients in supportive therapy modalities such as play therapy, talk therapy, CBT, DBT, Solutions-Based Treatment, Creative Arts Therapy, and EMDR.

Professional backgrounds of our team members include Social Workers, a Creative Arts Therapist,
and a blossoming graduate student social worker. Therapists have specialization areas in work with children and teens, maternal mental health, trauma, substance misuse, grief, and LGBTQ+.
We offer therapy services both in person and virtually by Telehealth to meet our patients' ongoing needs and are one of the few mental health practices located in the Rondout Valley area of Ulster County.
We support people in the local communities of Stone Ridge, High Falls, Marbletown, Accord, Kerhonkson, Kingston, Saugerties, and New Paltz. We are able to provide virtual therapy sessions for patients
as long as they are located anywhere within the state of New York.
